Monachil Capital Partners is a Greenwich, CT based private credit manager focused on asset-backed lending and specialty finance with a 7+ year track record. We directly originate privately negotiated, senior-secured investments, with the intent of providing investors with attractive risk-adjusted returns and consistent current income.
We differentiate ourselves with our data-driven approach, where we monitor and reconcile collateral in near real time, and partner with high-growth originators seeking capital solutions.
The firm strives to underwrite to a zero-credit loss on all investments with downside protection, control, and transparency as the foundation. Prioritizing diversity of investments by industry, product and geography, strict covenants, data analytics, and sizing deals in the $5–30mm range helps drive performance and mitigate risk.

Ali Meli
Founder & Chief Investment Officer
The investment platform was founded by Ali Meli in 2019, rooted in a strong risk management ethos and processes attributed to his nearly 15 years working at Goldman Sachs as a Partner and Global Co-Head of the Structured Finance, Investing and Lending group.
This group was one of the most profitable business units at the firm with Ali at the helm, having most notably engineered the "tactical short" on the housing market prior to the 2008 market collapse.
Through the 2010s, Ali was at the forefront of financing the first wave of fintech and consumer finance originators, developing early insight into the outsized returns available from partnering with high-growth lenders in need of capital. It is this experience — understanding both the risks and the opportunity in backing emerging originators — that became the inspiration for Monachil's investment strategy.
Ali holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Joseph McNeila
Senior Advisor
Joseph McNeila serves as Senior Advisor to Monachil Capital Partners, providing strategic and operational guidance to management. He previously served as President and CFO of the firm (2021–2025).
Prior to Monachil, McNeila spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs in New York and London, where he founded the Principal Funding and Investments group in New York and established and ran the European branch for 10 years, developing the Structured Lending platform.
Earlier in his career, McNeila was a CPA and auditor at Ernst & Young. He holds a BBA in Accountancy from Baruch College and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University.
